Episode 7 – THE ENCOUNTER AT GANYMEDE

Chief Anchoress Paula Nocy intensified her efforts to find out more about the formula that was stolen by Dr. Nayfel. It was difficult because the Bovine Research Center did not want to share trade secrets. Dr. Harmon Cole (lead scientist) told Paula privately that if the thief wishes to mass produce the formula, they are going to need ganite; and the only place to get ganite currently is on Ganymede. Paula notifies Chief Patriarch Ti-Weh Naropa, and he orders his fleet to Ganymede.

The SSF (Stellar Security Force of the Federated State of Tennessee) has a battalion space station (the Vol), in orbit above Ganymede (one of Jupiter’s moons). It provides security to various mining operations. Upon learning about the ganite, an additional battalion was dispatched to Jupiter by the SSF, and the space station Corsica left Earth orbit for Ganymede.

The Queen and Dr. Nayfel agreed that the moon was no longer safe as an outpost because of the Mercurians. The Queen gave the UGK space agency and military notice to clear traffic for Her arrival on Earth. Personnel in the Queen’s castle move to their designated areas for transport. After they move, the Queen’s castle reconfigures into a 100-mile cubed structure, and it lifts off from the moon and descends to Earth. There are over one million androids and five hundred thousand humans living in the Queen’s castle. The castle lands in the Celtic Sea, and it reconfigures into the Queen’s castle fortress.

The United Mercury Theocracy Corvette Beth-ab’igail is the first to arrive near Ganymede. Just prior to their arrival, a section of the SSF’s Fireflies are caught off guard by two of Dr. Nayfel’s Scorpions, and they begin evasive maneuvers to escape.

“VOLUNTEER X-RAY, COBRA SIX, CONTACT, TWO FAST MOVING BOGEYS OUR ALPAH OSCAR, I CAN’T SHAKE THEM,” informs Captain Treshe Rotrep.

“Cobra six, Volunteer x-ray, alert craft inbound, stick it out,” responds the Vol’s RTO.

The Vol loses contact with the two Fireflies. One pilot managed to eject from her Firefly after her fighter sustained damage from one of the Scorpions. The two Scorpions ignore her escape pod and continue to pursue the second Firefly when a third bandit appears and overtakes the fleeing Firefly and envelops it. The third bandit was not a Scorpion, it was Mialyn Mira Echo W.I.E.I. Ten in her Telcom Nighthawk form.

Mira Echo utilizes her nodes and her wetware interface memory and ascertains the data she needs from the Firefly and the pilot, 2nd Lieutenant Jo’may Nyshron. Mira then kills her, discarding the body and takes over the Firefly.

“Volunteer x-ray, cobra six dash two, bandits disengaging and fleeing the area, break…Cobra six punched out, request medevac, over,” informs the Echo Ten impersonating Lieutenant Nyshron.

Mira Echo uses the stolen Firefly to dock and board the Vol space station as Lieutenant Nyshron. Mira makes her way toward the control center, and at one of the computer terminals, she starts accessing the station’s database and retrieving information. Because of her immense memory capacity and processor speed, she is able to retrieve the information quickly, and she transmits it to Dr. Nayfel.

The Vol space station receives a call from the MTS Beth’el which has just arrived, and they are requesting to send representatives to meet with the command staff concerning the encounter with the Scorpions. Lieutenant Colonel Carl Montgomery (the station commander) agrees to the request by the Mercurians. Chief Patriarch Ti-Weh Naropa and Anchoress Katie Wheylon arrive and are greeted by Colonel Montgomery and his staff. The group then proceeds to the briefing room.

On their way to the briefing room, the group approaches Lieutenant Nyshron coming up the corridor, and Ti and Katie’s newly installed sensors activate their mantas system, deploying their helmet and defensive armaments.

“Colonel Montgomery, who is this person,” asks Ti?

“THIS IS ONE OF OUR FIGHTER PILOTS, 2ND LIEUTENANT JO’MAY NYSHRON, WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS COMMOTION,” demands the Colonel!

“Colonel Montgomery, she is not human. After our autopsy of the two researchers killed at the Bovine Center, we modified our scanners to detect nanite-fluidic polymers, and our scanners indicate that she is some type of bio-mechanical creature,” informs Ti.

“Jo, what he is talking about,” ask the Colonel?

“Sir, I would get away from her,” warns Ti!

The Echo Ten starts to shift her form, and Ti fires a zero-point energy beam, encasing the Echo Ten in the field. However, Mira creates a sub-field which begins to feedback into Ti’s mantas system, disrupting his electronics briefly. At the sight of this, Anchoress Katie Wheylon reacts instantly firing a phased plasma bolt at the Echo Ten, capturing Mira in an energy field.

The field operates independently and/or, can draw its power from the target. In this case, the field begins drawing its power from the resistance of the Echo Ten, creating an even stronger field. It is a unique device, one created after Dr. Nayfel left the Mercury colony. The field can also be inverted and act as shielding for almost any application.

“Colonel Montgomery, this is not your pilot. If I were to venture a somber guess, I would say your pilot is dead, since her last known sighting prior to her return was in the presence of the Scorpions,” informs Ti.

“Ti, the creature is placing itself in a stasis; it is minimizing its power output to weaken the field. We need to infuse the field with outside energy. If there is no outside energy, the field will collapse. We need to move it soon or it could escape,” states Katie.

They move the creature into a container and supplement the power to the field. The container is placed in an airlock and released into space where two Ravens direct it onto a waiting Tennessee cargo ship where it is meet by another Mercury Corsair crew to guard.

They decide to start an examination of the Echo Ten in three hours, and Ti and his group leave the Vol and return to the Beth’el. Ti and Prelates Phreet and Valpor meet in the sanctuary where they begin meditations and prayers for enlightenment and strength. The 11th Congregation arrives at Jupiter, and Ti and his triumvirate are summoned to the Temple Galaxy Cruiser Beth’car to talk with Elder Ned Ely Swithin about the matter.

“Peace and blessings, you all have certainly involved us in a most wanton distraction. I am aware of your fervency Ti. A renewal on Earth cannot come about by our skill, but by enlightenment. What exactly are we doing here,” asks Elder Swithin?

“Elder Ned, we have our knowledge and wisdom, and I am trying to use it too. We are proceeding in a course that Dr. Nayfel is instigating. I agree that we are slipping into a conventional mode of operation, and we desperately need enlightenment and your corrections in that respect. I request that you assist us in protecting this mining facility, because Dr. Nayfel needs a substance mined here to mass produce the formula he stole from Texas. I am going to return to the cargo ship where we have caged one of Dr. Nayfel’s creations, a deadly cyborg, and examine it,” responds Ti.

“Very well, but remember, the tangles of the world. You need meditation time to strengthen yourself to ensure you are following the right course. I will supplement the fleet, and since no one has received any revelation concerning our current dilemma, I will suppose the course we are taking is the right one. Yet, I am troubled, and hope we have not fallen into a spiritual blindness brought on by pride and arrogance in our own technologies. That was the downfall of the congregation in Tennessee, and one that has them in their current condition. Please bear that in mind,” indicates Elder Swithin.

Ti leaves the Beth’car in a Corsair, and he makes his way to the cargo ship which has been moved away from Ganymede. Unbeknownst to the cargo ship, a fine dust has been showering its hull for some time since the Echo Ten was brought aboard. The dust is a reservoir of the Echo Ten’s inherent material that she also controls and can meld with to create objects of larger mass, or multiple smaller objects. As the Corsair approaches the cargo ship, one of the crew notices the accumulation of the particles on the hull which begin to unify and move across the surface.

“Alert the fleet, get some Ravens over here and have the crew of the cargo ship seal their bulkheads; and if they have them, get into environmental suits. I do not think this is going to go well,” orders Ti, as Mira’s entities breach the hull and part into multiple zagaglia which begin to raze everything in their path.

Upon entering the chamber where the Echo Ten is being held, the entities begin bombarding the power generators supplying the plasma field restraining Mira, destroying them. The Mercurians providing security are overwhelmed. While their mantas system shielding is protecting them, the sheer number of attacking objects provides enough cover to aid the Echo Ten’s release.

The Echo Ten has practically eliminated her ambient energy within the containment field, and her adjuncts penetrate and silhouette the Echo Ten, and she escapes. Outside, the Echo Ten takes shape as a Scorpion, and accelerates away while two Ravens give chase, but Mira is too fast.

“Over there, another vessel…Beth’el control, the bandit has rendezvoused with another vessel…Beth’el control, we are getting jump readings, event horizon forming, we are pulling back, over,” the Raven pilots turn back, as the encountered vessel prepares to fold space.

The Echo Ten rendezvous with Dr. Nayfel’s Carrier and folds space to escape. Based on the information transmitted by the Echo Ten from the Vol, Dr. Nayfel’s stealthy automatons were able to hijack some ganite on a nearby cargo ship. They used the cover of the Echo Ten’s escape to make it back to Dr. Nayfel. The Mercurians receive word of the theft from the SSF’s Corsica space station that arrived from Earth.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, the Queen prepares for a Political Audience to ask Her new Prime Minister to form a government. The Queen’s mobile castle (which is currently in the Celtic Sea), has two public landing platforms for receiving incoming traffic. The platforms remain closed until the ship wishing to land is approved. The two platforms are best described as resembling a dumbbell. One round area in front of the castle (Near Platform), and 13 miles straight away, the other round area (Far Platform), and they are connected with a corridor that runs high speed shuttles. If you must undergo security checks, you will land at the Far Platform. Someone like the Pope, can land at the Near Platform.

Majority Leader Kassia Ruslon has been summoned by the Queen for a Political Audience to form a government as the Queen’s new Prime Minster (after Thomas Kinard’s death), and she lands at the Near Platform. The Queen meets with Mrs. Ruslon in private, and she agrees to form a government. The Queen says:

“Prime Minster Kinard was trying to have Me tried and removed as Queen, do you have such aspirations Mrs. Ruslon?”

“Do you know why you received majority support?”

“Your Majesty, I assume You are asking because You arranged it.”

She orders the new guard also have an artful representation of the black scrying crystal overlaid with the dagger of Tutankhamun on their left chest (over the heart). She also makes the new guard manifest a black plume atop their helmets. On the inside of the new guard’s right thigh was a diamond overlaid with a serpent’s head and the serpent’s two fangs formed the side points of the diamond. The Queen called her new guard, Vipers.

I flipped his script and made the bad guys the good guys, but they are still morally bad. The Mercurians will serve antagonistically to the Queen from here out, but the focus will shift to the Queen.

The political side was not a concern for Greg because his focus was on the bad guy Dr. Nayfel, and the good guy Ti-Weh Naropa. These two characters will take a back seat to the Queen and Mira for future postings. There will still be times story needs to develop, but not as much as the first seven Episodes.
